Pediatric Dentistry
When should the first dental check-up be done?
The first dental check-up is recommended to be done by a pediatric dentist after the first baby tooth has erected (usually between 6 months and 1 year of age). This first check-up provides you with recommendations regarding your child's oral health and aims to continue dental health with regular check-ups in the following period.
When should I start brushing my child's teeth?
From the moment your child's first teeth appear in the oral environment, you should start cleaning them regularly after each feeding. For this purpose, you can use a clean, damp gauze or special finger brushes. Although the brushing that the child does until the age of 3 does not have full functional importance, it is useful for the child to gain the habit of brushing. Therefore, children of this age should be allowed to brush their own teeth, but afterwards, the parent should clean the areas that are hard to reach for the child himself.
Decay Examination for Children's Teeth
The teeth that emerge in children are fresh teeth. Newly formed and newly emerging teeth are vulnerable and therefore are quickly affected by external effects. Therefore, children's teeth are quite prone to decay. In addition, excessive sugar consumption, sucking action and milk consumption of children also cause cavities. This is also called baby bottle tooth decay. Determinations are made with the examination. Determinations are made such as how many rotten teeth there are and which teeth are prone to decay. According to these determinations, first the rotten teeth are treated and precautions are taken against decay for other teeth.
MILK TEETH FILLING
Dental filling procedure is performed for rotten teeth. Local anesthesia is applied for the teeth. After local anesthesia, the teeth are carved and cleaned with the help of special tools. After these cleanings, the teeth are filled with special filling materials. The filling is done with composite or amalgam fillings. Amalgam filling consists of metal alloys. Composite filling is a filling in the color of the teeth.
